Director ID compliance check

Every director of an Australian company or CATSI corporation needs a 15-digit Director Identification Number, obtained via ABRS before appointment. ASIC has commenced first enforcement actions for non-compliance.

Steps

Apply NOW — Director ID must be obtained BEFORE appointment.
Go to abrs.gov.au, log in with myGovID, complete application (~5 minutes once you have ID documents).
Defer formal appointment until Director ID issued.
If appointment has already been formalised, application is now overdue; expect ABRS follow-up.

Deadline: 22 May 2026

Max penalty: $1.11M civil / $13,320 + 12 months prison criminal
