Investors

Australia's compliance index — built, owned and run here.

Background for investors, advisors and strategic partners. We are not running a structured raise; conversations are quiet and on our timing.

What Rules Mate is

Rules Mate indexes every Australian compliance obligation, regulator, Act, enforcement action and deadline into one searchable, cited corpus — then puts an AI advisor on top of it that answers in plain English and links its sources. The browse layer, search and 49 tools are free forever. The paid product is the part a business cannot do itself: work out precisely what applies to them, ask questions about their own contracts and policies, and export a dated Compliance Pack they can hand to an accountant, board or auditor.

Why now

AML/CTF Tranche 2 commenced 1 July 2026

Real estate agents, accountants, lawyers, conveyancers, trust and company service providers and precious metals dealers became reporting entities. Tens of thousands of small firms acquired an AML/CTF program obligation they have never had before, with no in-house compliance function to hand it to.

Privacy Act reform is still landing

Successive tranches are extending obligations toward small business and tightening breach handling. Every extension converts a business that never thought about privacy into one that needs an answer.

Climate and sustainability reporting is phasing in

AASB S2 reporting phases down through Group 2 and Group 3 entities, pulling mid-market companies into disclosure regimes previously reserved for the ASX top end.

Compliance advice is priced for large companies

A law firm or Big 4 scoping exercise starts in the thousands. A small business owner trying to work out what applies to them has been choosing between that and guessing. That gap is the market.

The moat

An Australian-only corpus, cited line by line

399+ obligations, 179+ regulators, 900+ regulatory guides and 120 defined terms — each mapped to the source it came from. A general-purpose model can talk about compliance; it cannot cite an Australian obligation register it does not have.

Structured, not scraped prose

Obligations carry jurisdiction, regulator, entity type, industry, revenue and headcount thresholds. That structure is what lets the product answer 'what applies to ME' rather than 'what does the law say', and it is the hard part to copy.

Free tools as the acquisition layer

49 interactive tools and a compliance fingerprint that maps a business to its obligation set — free, indexable, and the top of a funnel that ends in a paid, exportable Compliance Pack.

Network leverage

Rules Mate shares its engineering, billing, email and editorial infrastructure with FairWork Mate, an established Australian workplace-rights property. New surfaces ship at marginal cost, and each property can route demand to the other.

The Mate Network

Rules Mate is part of the Mate Network — a group of Australian-owned tools that answer regulatory questions for Australian businesses and workers. Its sibling, FairWork Mate, covers workplace rights, pay and Fair Work compliance, and is the more established property. The two share infrastructure and an editorial standard: Australian sources, cited claims, and no pretence of being a regulator or a law firm.

The strategic point is that compliance questions do not arrive one regulator at a time. A business owner asking about their AML/CTF program this week is asking about their WHS duties or their award obligations next week. Owning several trusted Australian surfaces is worth more than owning one.

Where we are

The corpus, search, browse surfaces and 49 tools are live. The AI advisor is live with a working paid funnel: free to try, then Starter at $29.99/month, Small Business Pro at $99/month, and Business at $499/month with 5 pooled seats. Search traffic is compounding month on month from a standing start.

Specific traffic, conversion and revenue figures are shared under NDA with serious enquiries.

Ownership

Rules Mate is owned and operated by an Australian registered private company. It is bootstrapped — built and funded without external capital to date — which means a clean capital structure and full flexibility on how a partnership or investment could be shaped.

The team

Led by an Australian operator with a background in fintech, payments and company governance (AICD qualified). Team and cap-table detail is shared under NDA with serious enquiries.
